The Midstate College Alumni Association fosters and strengthens relationships between alumni and the College. The alumni actively support the educational leadership of Midstate College. Midstate College has been proud of its rich history and successful alumni since its inception in 1888. Alumni are encouraged to visit the campus, attend activities, and send information about themselves to the Alumni Association. The benefits of membership include networking, making and keeping business contacts, newsletter and web page communication. Alumni Association Members
 

President - Robynn McGann graduated from Midstate in 1998 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Paralegal Services. During her last quarter she was hired by Peoria County State’s Attorney Kevin Lyons as a legal secretary and worked there until 2001 when she received a position in the legal department as a corporate paralegal at Caterpillar, Inc. She is no longer a corporate paralegal. She recently was promoted to purchasing analyst in the Global Purchasing division at Caterpillar, Inc., and her legal background serves her well in the area of negotiating with suppliers. Robynn is currently attending the University of Illinois-Springfield and will graduate in December 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies.

Robynn is very active in her community. In addition to serving as President of the Alumni Association, she is also the chair of volunteer resources for a volunteer organization of Caterpillar, Inc., Community Now! She is also a recent graduate of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored Community Leadership School and was appointed to serve on the Board for Junior Achievement of 2005. She is single with no children. She has a beautiful Maltese puppy named Chanel. Her hobbies include beading jewelry, shopping, weight-lifting, water aerobics, hiking, and NHRA drag racing.


Vice President - Nancy Schlangen graduated from Midstate College in 2001 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Assistant. She is currently working at Central Illinois Rehabilitation in Peoria, Illinois for Dr. Richard A. Flores as a Medical Assistant. She loves her work!

Nancy lives in the small town of Canton, Illinois. She has grown children that live in the surrounding area and are all successful adults. Her goal as Vice President of the Alumni Association is to maintain a level of professionalism and integrity that will be beneficial to the alumni and students of Midstate College.


Secretary - Alana (Sheets) Parm graduated in June 1986 with an Associate of Science Degree in Professional Accounting. Since that time, she has been employed by Bank One Private Client Services (formerly Jefferson Bank) working in the field of trust and investment management, most recently as the Market Administrative Officer for Greater Illinois.

In her spare time, Alana enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, as well as sewing, cooking, and traveling. As secretary of Midstate College’s Alumni Association, Alana hopes to renew old friendships, as well as make new acquaintances, in an effort to enhance the Midstate experience to both current and past students.


Treasurer - Breanna Smith graduated from Midstate in May 2001 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Administration. She has been employed by RLI since 1999 in the Underwriting Department in a variety of roles currently heading up the Construction Team. Breanna graduated from the University of Illinois in December of 2004 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Criminal Justice. She will begin her master’s studies in August of 2006.

Breanna is actively involved with several community volunteer organizations. The two organizations closest to her are the Center for Prevention of Abuse and Habitat for Humanity activities. She also enjoys working out at Curves, water activities, local sporting events, and spending as much time on the river front as possible in the summer. She resides in Peoria with her cat, Calla Lilly. Breanna hopes to renew old friendships and get the alumni more involved with their alma mater.


Member-at-Large - Ronald Allen Pfahl, Jr. graduated from Midstate College in 2002 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Information Systems and in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management of Information Systems. He worked at Affina full-time for five years while attending Midstate as a full-time student. Shortly after graduation in 2004, with the assistance of the Midstate Placement Services department, he began working for Washington Group International as a Data/Business Analyst. Washington Group International is a massive construction, mechanical services, and maintenance company. Ron works within the Caterpillar, Inc. Global Purchasing contract division based at the Caterpillar AC building located in Mossville, IL.

Ron enjoys bowling, golf, softball, basketball, fishing, bow hunting, and camping. He is married and has 4 children (3 daughters and a son) ranging in ages from 18 years old to 11 months old with another on the way (due at the end of November).


Member-at-Large - Elmond Chibayambuya graduated from Midstate in 2004 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration (Accounting concentration). He has been employed by Sharon HealthCare Center, Peoria since 2001. Elmond has held several positions within the same organization including Social Rehabilitation Worker, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Servcies Coordinator, and currently is the Psychosocial and Quality Programs Manager.

Elmond is originally from Zimbabwe, Southern Africa, and is happily married with four children (2 girls and 2 boys). In his spare time, Elmond enjoys reading financial management books, watching Court TV station, and networking. Elmond’s long-term plans include teaching at Midstate College (part-time) after his master’s degree program. He also intends to encourage minorities to see the importance of education and how Midstate College can help them realize their goals.
