Weight Loss and Health Program at Midstate College
The Wellness and Health Initiative Program (WHIP) Core Committee has developed a new program for the students and employees of the College. The program will be referred to as the WHIP Club. Each week the Core members will rotate in hosting the meetings and provide different presentations including bringing in outside speakers. Meeting as a group is a great way to address concerns, to obtain and provide support, and to learn and reinforce healthy habits for life. The program is designed to focus on weight loss as well as recognize overall health improvements. Improvements can include but are not limited to weight loss, smaller clothing sizes, reduction in medication, increase in exercise, obtaining goals, and more. Weekly incentives will be given for improvements, and there is a monthly incentive program as described below.
Option 1: The first week of each month, participants pay a $5.00 fee that goes into the “kitty.” The last week of each month, one participant will be awarded the entire “kitty.” The person with the highest average weight loss for the month will be the recipient. If there is more than one person with the same average, the “kitty” will be divided among the winners. As an example if there are 20 people participating in the program, the “kitty” would be $100.
Option 2: If anyone would like to participate in the meetings for the health benefits but not participate in the “kitty” program, he or she can choose option 2. These individuals can attend for free and weigh-in if they want to track weight, but they do not have to pay the $5.00. Choosing option 2 also means that they are not eligible to participate in the “kitty.”
Date: Every Wednesday
Weigh-in Times: 4:00 to 4:30 in Room 212 (Rhonda’s office)
Meeting Times 4:30 to 5:00 in Room 200
The weigh-in session is private and all weights are kept confidential.
Join us on Wednesdays for a happier and healthier 2013!
