Biography

Born in Peoria, Joanna attended Whittier Grade School and Peoria Central High school. She has a long association with Midstate College. She took personal typing at Midstate College in 1965 to learn how to use an electric typewriter!!

She has graduated from ICC, Indiana University, University of St. Francis and University of New Mexico @ Roswell. She has an A.A.S. in Registered Nursing, a B.S. in Political Science & Psychology, a M.S. in health Service Administration, and a certificate in Teaching Allied Health. Joanna is married with 2 grown sons, 4 noisy grandchildren, and a toothless Shih Tzu named Dusty.

Joanna has extensive experience working in Mental Health and Substance Abuse. She came to work at Midstate in 1994 and has served as department director since 2001. She has been credentialed as a Site Surveyor for MAERB since 2005. Other past activities include: disaster nurse for ARC and Coordinator of Recruitment for Central Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross. Named as winner in "25 Women of Leadership" in 2008. Author of textbook published by Lippincott, Williams, and Wilkins: "MEDICAL ASSISTING MADE INCREDIBLY EASY-PHARMACOLOGY" Joanna has served as a "Stephens Minister" and parish nurse volunteer.
