Biography
I am a second-generation accountant. Born, raised and educated in the central Illinois area, I have degrees in Accounting from Illinois Central College and Bradley University. While in graduate school, I served as a graduate assistant for the accounting department. Running Bradley's accounting tutoring lab was one of my main assignments as a graduate assistant. It was at this time that I considered accounting education as a future career, although the reality would not happen until several years later.
Upon graduation from Bradley, I began full-time employment at a small Chillicothe accounting firm owned and operated by my father. At this firm, approximately 900 individual, business and not-for-profit returns are prepared. After approximately 6 years of full-time employment, I began teaching accounting courses as a secondary career. I have taught at a total of four local colleges and universities, and have been teaching at Midstate exclusively since 2006.
Currently, I work in public accounting full-time and teach 3 to 4 courses per quarter. In the future, I would love to pursue a Ph.D., either in the field of accounting or in education.
I enjoy spending my free time with my family and friends, working through a long "laundry list" of home repairs, and doting on some highly-spoiled pets: cats Angus (5), Sox(13), new kittens Finn and Jake (born August '12), as well as my parents' dog Buddy (2). As for hobbies, I would have to say that my #1 guilty pleasure is technology.
